10 delicious chicken dishes!


1. Soul Satisfying Butter Chicken
Some of us grew up on this tasty, soul satisfying, orange – red coloured dish called Butter Chicken or Murgh Makhani; in times when world cuisine had not entered our lifestyles. Every restaurant visit usually called for an order of a plate of butter chicken. Made with a marination of yogurt, ginger, garlic and various spices, this Punjabi /North Indian dish often brings back old memories. Even in this day and age when people are getting more experimental with food, the love for Butter Chicken remains largely unfazed.

2. Spicy and edgy Chicken 65
A favorite appetizer for many, this chicken preparation from the South of India (Chennai) is a succulent mix of chicken with ginger, garlic and red chillies. Like every dish in India, each state down South makes this dish differently.
So next time you throw a party, consider serving Chicken 65 for starters. It tastes wonderful when paired with any mocktail/cocktail and goes well with wine, beer or any hard alcohol too.

3. The Evergreen Chicken Curry
Every household has a way in which they cook their Chicken curry. North Indians usually make it with a base of onions and tomatoes, In South India coconut and curry leaves are popular ingredients. Some make it spicy, some make it creamy, some make it sweet and sour.
Combine some of that delectable Homemade Chicken curry with Rice and some salad or have with parathas or chapatis. You  are without a doubt on your way to food heaven.

Though originally Kebabs find roots in Iran and are made extensively in the Middle East, our Indian versions of Kebabs are extremely popular too. Kebabs look very exotic if dressed and garnished well. Served with some Indian green chutney, kebabs are an instant hit with food lovers.

Yogurt, ginger, garlic, red chilly and lemon juice being the key ingredients, most chicken lovers who enjoy spicy &  flavourful preparations, simply love chicken tikka. Cooked in both dry and masala forms, chicken tikka is one of the most popular dishes worldwide. 

6. The Anglo Indian Chicken Vindaloo
Now lets visit our favourite part of India – GOA. Those who are high on local food cuisines during holidays make it a point to relish some Vindaloo when in this Indian state. Cooked in Vinegar, salt, spices, sugar, ginger & chilly peppers there’s a perfect sweet and sour taste to this delicious chicken preparation.

7. Tempting Tawa Chicken
Like the name suggests, this dish is made on tawas and is usually found on road side stalls or dhabas. The utensils in which certain food are cooked make a world of a difference to their flavours and that’s exactly the case with Tawa Chicken. When onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic are combined with lots of masalas and cooked on a burning hot tawa, the flavour is something else.

Chettinad cuisine (from Chettinad in Tamil Nadu, India) uses a variety of pungent spices which are made out of freshly ground masalas. Ingredients like poppy seeds, fennel seeds and coriander seeds lend it a very special aroma. So if you are in a mood to smack on some authentic South Indian food, simply opt for the Chettinad style.

10. The Rich Flavours of Chicken Korma
With roots in the Mughlai cuisine but uber famous in India, Chicken Korma is made in thick gravy. The ingredients combine nuts, making the flavour very scrumptious. Again the style of making it and interpretation differs from region to region and can be improvised as per personal preferences.
